Project description
The composition of business, housing and infrastructure is changing in the Mindemyren area, and population growth is expected. In order to meet the needs for municipal services, the municipality of Bergen acquired the postal terminal site in 2017.
The municipality decided that the overall need for municipal services should be mapped to assess which services could be included in a multifunctional building. After a concept selection study had been carried out, the result was a concept that involved combining services for several user groups.
Co-use will be an important premise for the project, as a key objective is that the totality of the building's functions is more than the sum of the individual parts. Co-use means that the building must meet several needs. The building must be designed for maximum use from early morning to late evening. Organizations must also be able to enter the building when the primary users do not need the premises. Examples include sports teams, voluntary organizations, charities and children and young people who need a place to hang out.
The developer has a strong ambition to reuse and repurpose a number of building materials from the existing buildings on the site. A reuse analysis will be carried out and, and based on this, requirements for reuse and recycling will be set out in the contract with the contractor. The requirements for reuse and recycling of materials must then be taken into account in the demolition process and during the construction phase.
The Mindemyren multi-purpose building is a candidate project in FutureBuilt and will also satisfy BREEAM Excellent.
Climate measures in the project include:
Local energy production, solar cells
As much solid wood/wood materials as possible
Emission-free construction site
Reuse of materials and products
Blue-green roofs and outdoor areas
