Project description

The project “Sykkelpark i Oslo” originates from the competition entry “SykkelLek” that won third prize in the competition “Get a bike. Break free!”. The team behind the project was Jens Jensen and his son Nilas Jensen Bull.

By establishing bicycle park play areas, the City of Oslo plan to give children and young people exciting places to develop their cycling skills. The bicycle play park also contribute to building a new cycling culture amongst young people. Based on this idea, the municipality of Oslo created a cycling track that was mobile and placed in containers so that it easily could be relocated to different locations, such as schools, kindergartens and events. The bicycle park was built in wood, consistsed of ten elements and was put together with 50 parts. The circuit included, amongst other things, a tilting apparatus, a jump and different types of ramps that children can cycle on. It was free to borrow the bike park and the Cycle Project in Oslo took care of the relocation and assembly.
