Project description

Spinn is a 3,000 square meter building dating back to the 1980s. FutureBuilt’s circular criteria are used as a foundation for the refurbishment of the project. The project aims to test new circular business models and build on the developer’s and partners’ previous experience with reusing building components.

The project is significant because of the number of similar buildings that are due to be rehabilitated in the coming years. Two phases are planned. Phase 1 includes major work on the existing structure, including upgrading facades, replacing windows, new ventilation and opening of the atrium. Phase Two will address the interiors, tailoring spaces to individual tenants while incorporating reused materials such as ceilings, glass and ventilation systems sourced from other projects.

Young people and a building model of the project Spinn
Site 4016 is part of the EU project NEB-STAR. In this work, various social processes and activities are being tested in collaboration with pupils and students – precisely the target group for recruitment to the construction, civil engineering and property industries. This creates a win-win situation: young people gain insight into circular processes that they can take with them into working life, while the industry strengthens its contact with future professionals.Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
In November (2025), Smedvig and general contractor Faber invited guests to a site visit where participants  gained insight into how the project has worked with FutureBuilt and reuse.
