Project description

The decision to construct a logistics building is the result of a larger security analysis and an important part of the security work at the Royal Court. The building contributes to safe handling of mail and goods. Among other things, deliveries from outside go to the free-standing logistics building and not to the Palace itself. The new building also has an important function in the handling of waste from the Palace.

A green building

The new logistics building is a FutureBuilt pilot project. This means that among other things the building has minimum 50 per cent lower greenhouse gas emissions than a reference building. The environmentally-friendly building has an area of 1000 square metres and is discretely situated in the cultural centre by Stallgården and Dronningparken, in the terrain towards Dronningparken. The building is claded with natural stone and perforated sheet metal plates. The roof is covered with slate-like photovoltaic panels and a planted area. The aim is to show how a new building can be adapted to fit into a historically important area. The environmentally-friendly building will be a near net zero energy building. As far as possible, materials with the lowest possible greenhouse gas emissions have been employed. Wood and other biomass-based products and recycled material have been used in addition to innovative solutions for low emission concrete.

Most important climate strategies:

  • Innovative use of material and a pilot plan for the use of slag / hybrid concrete

  •  Minimum “near net zero energy” and the ambition for a plus-energy house according to FutureBuilt’s definition

  •  Building-integrated solar panels which are adapted to a historically important environment

  •  Bicycle facilities for the whole of the Palace workplace

Construction started in 2018 with completion in 2021, and the project has a cost estimate of 120 million kroner.
